Access Control Specialist Overview:

Spend 8 months working at a government facility as an Access Control Specialist in San Antonio, Texas for CenCore. Please state in the “comments” section if you are willing to relocate to our other locations throughout the US. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and controlling access into customer’s facilities
  • Operating and ensuring the proper administrative control of equipment
  • Conducting random inspections to circumvent entry of prohibited/restricted items into customer’s facilities
  • Operating metal detectors, X-ray equipment, explosive detection, and other equipment at pedestrian/equipment control points
  • Monitoring closed circuit television systems, intrusion detection systems, fire alarm systems
  • Dispatching response personnel as necessary

Basic Requirements:

  • Physically able to perform all duties and functions of the position
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent and currently pursuing university education (proof of enrollment needed)
  • Be at least 18 years of age

Health Requirements:

  • Possess binocular vision correctable to 20/20 and close vision correctable to Jaeger No. 4 type test for both eyes
  • Be free of color blindness
  • Have normal fields of vision and good depth perception as defined by a Snellen chart
  • Be in good general health without conditions which would interfere with the performance of duties
  • Have hearing which is correctable to normal level hearing with hearing aids. Normal hearing levels are demonstrated by a pure tone audiometry hearing level (HL) of 0 decibels or lower
  • A physical examination will be conducted, to include medical and drug screening of bodily fluids

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to pass the Sigma Survey for Security Officers by Sigma Assessment Systems, Inc. (70% or higher in all 3 sections)
  • Must have the ability to read and understand printed regulations, detailed written orders, policies, procedures, and training instructions
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions in a quick and decisive manner using good judgment
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the customers’ personnel
  • Ability to represent the customer in a helpful and professional manner in all telephone, radio, and personal contact with the customers’ personnel as well as courteous, customer-oriented service with other agencies and organizations
  • Ability and Desire to learn and an optimistic, positive attitude
