Access Control Specialist (ACS/Maryland):
Responsibilities include monitoring and controlling access into and fromĀ the customer’sĀ facilities; operating and ensuring the proper administrative control of equipment; monitoring compliance with the customer’s established rules and regulations; providing proper documentation, briefing presentations, and reports of all activities affecting the customer’s facilities; issuing keys to authorized personnel; providing personnel to support the Automated Key Access Machines (AKAMS); providing personnel to staff Visitor Centers at various locations for the processing of individuals into the customer’s secure compound; providing support to after hour functions; conducting random inspections to ensure prohibited/restricted items are not introduced into or removed from the customer’s facilities; operating metal detectors, X-ray equipment, explosive detection, and other equipment at pedestrian/equipment control points; responding to open or closed rooms located within the customer’s facility as directed; monitoring closed circuit television systems, intrusion detection systems, fire alarm systems, and dispatching response personnel as necessary.

Basic Requirements:

  • TOP SECRET Clearance with access to SCI (TS/SCI) (provided by CenCore)
  • Physically able to perform all duties and functions of the position
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be 18 years of age

Health Requirements:

  • Possess binocular vision correctable to 20/20 and close vision correctable to Jaeger No. 4 type test for both eyes
  • Be free of color blindness
  • Have normal fields of vision and good depth perception as defined by a Snellen chart
  • Be in good general health without conditions which would interfere with the performance of duties
  • Have hearing which is correctable to normal level hearing with hearing aids. Normal hearing levels are demonstrated by a pure tone audiometry hearing level (HL) of 0 decibels or lower
  • A physical examination will be conducted, to include medical and drug screening of bodily fluids

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to pass the Sigma Survey for Security Officers by Sigma Assessment Systems, Inc. (70% or higher in all 3 sections)
  • Must have the ability to read and understand printed regulations, detailed written orders, policies, procedures, and training instructions
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions in a quick and decisive manner using good judgement
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the customer’s personnel
  • Must possess the ability to represent the customer in a helpful and professional manner in all telephone, radio, and personal contact with the customer’s personnel as well as courteous, customer-oriented service with other agencies and organizations
